Dr Samantha Rice is a Counselling Psychologist at Eton Psychiatrists with additional training in ADHD and autism. She works with neurodivergent adults and young adults, including late identified, high functioning and AuDHD presentations, using a strengths based, integrative approach that identifies what is working in a person's mind and plans a clear therapeutic path from there. She sees patients online across the UK and in person in Stockport and Altrincham.

About Me

I'm a Counselling Psychologist with additional training in ADHD and autism, and I work mainly with adults and young adults who are neurodivergent, suspect they might be, or have recently received a diagnosis. Many of the people I see are capable, articulate and outwardly successful, and have spent years masking and pushing through while wondering why ordinary life costs them so much more effort than it seems to cost everyone else.

My starting point is not what is wrong with you but what is strong in you. In our first sessions we map how your mind actually works: where your attention, energy, sensitivity and creativity are real assets, where your environment is working against you, and what has quietly been holding you back. From that we plan your therapeutic journey together, with clear aims and a pace that suits you.

I work integratively, drawing on CBT, DBT informed skills, compassion focused therapy, schema informed work and person centred therapy, all adapted for neurodivergent minds. That might mean practical help with overwhelm, burnout, emotional regulation, rejection sensitivity or executive function, or deeper work on self criticism, trauma, relationships and the questions about identity that often follow a late diagnosis. I also support people through the assessment process and the months afterwards, when a new understanding of yourself needs time to settle.

Alongside neurodivergence I have experience with anxiety and panic, OCD and intrusive thoughts, low mood, trauma and complex trauma, eating difficulties, self harm and acute distress, psychotic experiences and perinatal mental health. I trained and worked across NHS, private hospital and community settings, and I work in a culturally sensitive and inclusive way.

Because I practise within Eton Psychiatrists, if you need a formal ADHD or autism assessment, a medication review or a joined up plan with one of our consultant psychiatrists, that can all be arranged in one place. If you would like to see whether we are a good fit, I offer a brief introductory call and would be glad to hear from you.
