About Me

I am Dr. David Rigby, Medical Director of Eton Psychiatrists. I am a consultant in General Adult and Older Adult Psychiatry and have been working in the discipline for 12 years now. I graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Bristol (MBChB) in 2008, and became a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatry (MRCPsych) in 2016. I am a Section 12(2) approved doctor and an Approved Clinician. I completed my psychiatric training in East London and Surrey.

Over the course of my career, I have worked in inpatient, outpatient, crisis, and early intervention in psychosis settings. My specialist interest is in the diagnosis and management of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Having the privilege to provide effective, and sometimes life-changing treatments for people under my care with ADHD, has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my career.

I am interested in the positive impacts of technology on mental health. I was the founding co-chair of the Royal College of Psychiatry’s Digital Special Interest Group and continue to sit on the committee. I co-directed a UK mental health technology conference called PsychTech, and have spoken about digital mental health at international conferences. I have a passion for teaching, and hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education from the University of Dundee. I have previously held a Fellowship of Medical Education in North East London NHS Foundation Trust, and an Honorary Clinical Lecturer post at Queen Mary University of London.

I strongly believe in the importance of shared decision-making in my clinical practice. It is my job to provide you with a range of options, and advise you on the pros and cons of each, to help you make an informed decision on your own treatment. I understand the importance of prompt care and advice, whether it be through an email or an appointment.
