Dr Avni Naik (GMC [number to confirm]) is a Specialty Doctor in Psychiatry at Eton Psychiatrists, 10 Harley Street, London, with extensive experience across CAMHS inpatient and adult NHS and private services She specialises in neurodiversity — with a particular focus on high-functioning and high-masking presentations, women and girls, and adults whose autism or ADHD has been missed at school or in the workplace.
About Me
I'm Dr Avni Naik — a medically qualified doctor and Specialty Doctor in Psychiatry with extensive experience across both child and adult mental health services. I have worked in CAMHS inpatient (acute) and community teams, as well as in adult inpatient and outpatient psychiatry — giving me a broad and well-rounded clinical perspective on how neurodivergence and mental health interact across the lifespan.
What I specialise in
I have completed over 1,000 neurodevelopmental assessments and now specialise in neurodiversity — autism, ADHD and combined (AuDHD) presentations. I have a particular interest in individuals whose needs are often overlooked: people who are high-functioning or high-masking, women and girls, and those whose traits have been missed in school or in the workplace. My work is informed by a strong understanding of how and why these presentations slip through standard pathways.
What an assessment with me feels like
I know that attending an assessment can feel daunting, and most people arrive feeling anxious. A key part of my approach is to create a calm, supportive environment from the very start.
My aim is simple: within the first 15 minutes, you should feel comfortable, understood, and more at ease. If that hasn't happened, I treat it as a sign that I need to do more to help you feel settled — not as a reflection of you. The pace, the language and the structure of the appointment all flex to fit you.
Why patients and families choose to work with me
People come to me because I take a thorough and highly individualised approach. Rather than relying solely on standardised templates, I take time to explore each person's developmental history, subtle traits and lived experiences in real depth. My aim is not just to reach a diagnosis — but to develop a meaningful, accurate understanding of the individual.
That matters most for the people who have been told for years that "you don't look autistic" or "you can't have ADHD because you got through school". A 60-minute, checklist-led appointment will routinely miss them. A careful, individualised one will not.
Practical, tailored recommendations — not theory
I provide practical, tailored recommendations that go beyond theory:
- Classroom strategies to support attention, executive function and sensory needs.
- Workplace adjustments to reduce overwhelm, protect focus and improve productivity.
- Personalised approaches to communication, emotional regulation and daily functioning.
- Family- and partner-facing guidance — language, routines and expectations that fit the person in front of us.
My goal is that every person leaves with clarity, validation and realistic, actionable steps to support them moving forward — at home, at school or at work. My practice is built around individualised, lived-experience-informed assessment and practical, real-world recommendations for classroom, workplace, communication and daily-life functioning — not template-driven reports.
