About Me
Dr. Ash Venkataraman is a Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist in the pioneering Brain Health Clinic at South London and Maudsley NHS Trust and a leading dementia neuroscientist at King’s College London.
His PhD was on the Cellular Phase of Alzheimer’s Disease from Imperial College London. He was one of five individuals in the world to win the Alzheimer’s Disease/Parkinson’s Disease Award. He has over 30 publications in the field of dementia including from Science Translational Medicine, Molecular Psychiatry, British Journal of Psychiatry and Alzheimer's Research and Therapy. He has held multiple research grants and fellowships supported by Alzheimer’s Research UK and the Alzheimer’s Society and has appeared in multiple news outlets and filmed a documentary on dementia.
He now leads a dementia research group at the Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing supervising multiple PhD students. He is interested in understanding the underlying causes of dementia, biomarker discovery, brain imaging, pharmacology, and developing effective treatment pathways and clinical trials in the Brain Health Clinic.
